Draft for review. This policy carries over the substance of the existing policy and must be reviewed and approved before launch.

Who we are

Cara Lees Yacht Crew Ltd, registered in Scotland, company number SC693620, is the data controller for personal data processed through this website and our recruitment services. Contact: info@caraleesyachtcrew.com.

What we collect

  • Candidate data — name, contact details, nationality, visa status, CV, photograph, certificates, employment history, references and availability.
  • Client data — name, contact details, vessel details and recruitment requirements.
  • Website data — pages visited, referring source and approximate location, collected through analytics where you have consented.

Why we process it

  • To consider you for positions and introduce you to prospective employers.
  • To verify certification and take references.
  • To meet our obligations under MLC 2006, including maintaining a register of seafarers placed.
  • To respond to enquiries.
  • To improve the website, where you have consented to analytics.

Legal basis

We process candidate data on the basis of legitimate interests in providing recruitment services and, where required, your consent. Some processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006.

Who we share it with

Candidate details, including your CV, are shared with prospective employers — yacht owners, captains and management companies — for the purpose of considering you for a position. We also use service providers for applicant tracking, background verification and email. We do not sell personal data.

International transfers

Yachts operate worldwide, so your data may be transferred outside the UK and EEA where a prospective employer is based elsewhere. Appropriate safeguards are applied where required.

How long we keep it

Candidate data is retained while you are active with us and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can contact you about suitable roles. Records required under MLC 2006 are retained for the period required by that regulation. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, and request portability. To exercise any of these, contact info@caraleesyachtcrew.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to make the site work, and analytics cookies only where you have consented. Consent is requested on your first visit and can be changed at any time.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date of the current version is shown at the foot of this page.
