Statement of Conformity with MLC 2006
Cara Lees Yacht Crew Ltd operates as a seafarer recruitment and placement service in accordance with the Maritime Labour Convention 2006, Regulation 1.4 and Standard A1.4.
Our undertakings
- No fees or other charges for recruitment or placement are borne directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by seafarers.
- We maintain an up-to-date register of all seafarers recruited or placed through us, available for inspection by the competent authority.
- Seafarers are informed of their rights and duties under their employment agreements before or during the engagement process.
- Seafarers have the opportunity to examine their employment agreements before and after signing, and to receive a copy.
- We verify that seafarers are qualified and hold the documents necessary for the job concerned.
- We verify that seafarers' employment agreements are in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and any collective bargaining agreement.
- We ensure, as far as practicable, that the shipowner has the means to protect seafarers from being stranded in a foreign port.
- We examine and respond to any complaint concerning our activities, and advise the competent authority of any unresolved complaint.
- We do not use means, mechanisms or lists intended to prevent or deter seafarers from gaining employment for which they are qualified.
- A system of protection by way of insurance is in place to compensate seafarers for monetary loss resulting from our failure to meet our obligations.
Complaints
Any seafarer may make a complaint about our services. Complaints are investigated and responded to, and unresolved complaints are notified to the competent authority. See our complaints procedure.
